Baileng Pork Bun
Shop Introduction / Brand Story
The third-generation brothers, Chen Jun-cheng and Chen Jun-ting, returned to their hometown to carry on the nostalgic flavors that connect the community of Baileng. They spent a full year learning the craft—seeking guidance from their grandmother, refining their skills, and having both their grandmother and mother taste every batch to ensure the original flavor remained unchanged.
The younger generation not only leveraged Facebook to introduce Baileng Meat Buns to a wider audience, but also successfully expanded into home-delivery orders. They insist on using the simplest, safest ingredients and seasonings. This flavor, passed down for over sixty years, continues to earn the love of longtime patrons while winning over new customers with its consistency.
The shop has now been open for over a year. Guests who once enjoyed Baileng’s famous buns have gradually returned, delighted to rediscover the taste from their memories. In addition to loyal patrons, many newcomers—drawn by online recommendations—now visit the shop. Quite a few have expressed surprise, saying that after traveling along Highway 8 for decades, they never knew a 50-year-old shop like this existed here.
The third-generation owners say their current goal is simply to work with dedication—mastering the fundamentals first, and then pursuing their broader ambitions. In the future, when circumstances allow, they hope to give back to their hometown, encourage more young people to return to Baileng to work, and revitalize the community. Their vision is to help Baileng regain its former vitality and once again become a welcoming stop along Provincial Highway 8 between Dongshi and Guguan—a place where travelers can pause, rest, and enjoy local flavors.
